R & D Walker Butchers is an established Family Butcher based in a Grade II listed building in the High Street of Moreton in Marsh, a bustling Cotswold market town. Formerly Checketts Butchers, this traditional butchers shop earned an enviable reputation for quality meats, predominantly locally sourced, and for making delicious meat products. From the finest selected cuts of meat to succulent sausages and posh burgers extraordinaire. A team of knowledgeable and friendly butchers, enthused by the charismatic Rob Walker, bring a smile to their customers faces daily with their relaxed but highly professional customer service. Experts to the last the question is more likely "what would you recommend?" than "may I have" as customers become friends and trust implicitly their choice of the freshest and the finest.
In a world of supermarkets and processed food a great butchers shop is a joy to behold but the only way has to be up; so with such an illustrious past the challenge was great. Rob and his team rose to that challenge and now supplies to the best local restaurants and a selection of discerning establishments. In line with many small local businesses Rob and his family created a Facebook page and posted some pictures and events. They built a loyal group of fans but couldn't quite see how it would be worth the time investment needed. Following an approach from Chris Brown, Rob agreed to risk the equivalent of a few kilos of fillet steak and handed the Social Media Management to CotswoldXL. A well seasoned retailer Rob does not suffer fools easily and made it plain that, excuse the pun, he wanted his 'pound of flesh' from the arrangement.
CotswoldXL took over the Facebook page and instigated our 'on boarding' research. Every business has a 'story' and using professional copywriters CotswoldXL tells that story in an engaging way. Our 'intelligent software' monitors R & D walkers presence on the Web and engages, interacts and builds an audience, advancing the story as we go. Robs story is about working with the best ingredients and interacting, face to face, with like minded people. It's all about the best product and service and you might think that Facebook is not the place for a 'real people' business. We used the platform to grow the reach from a few to a multitude. Six and seven thousand reach on some posts. We paid no money to advertise the page just ran a series of attractive offers, competitions and showcased great butchery with professional original images. In no time the results were showing in Robs cash register.
Facebook is an ideal platform to 'talk' with Robs customers allowing us to survey attractive price points and potential new products. We first tested a range of Bar-b-que packs with Facebook fans. CotswoldXL intelligent software monitors and records every post. Our reporting module feeds back our findings direct to the client. regular if you want not at all if you prefer not. CotswoldXL is not about impressing you with figures it's all about changing the figures on your bottom line. Profit brings success to us and our clients.
...all change for the next long ride.
We passed our three month test and did more of what we do best. Great Photo Journalism building and growing a profitable audience and along came COVID-19. We are all sick of hearing about it but as it changed all of our worlds we can't ignore it. Every one of Rob's Pub & Restaurant customers was closed immediately, the effect was devastating but CotswoldXL had built an audience desperate for information. Things had to change and in Robs own words " When COVID-19 kicked in it seemed like a disaster for us but the CotswoldXL team pretty much reinvented our business within a week and we continue to go from strength to strength...
Social Media Management is just one product in our business building armoury. We are entrepreneurs with many years of business and marketing expertise under our belt. We sourced sanitiser and masks, created and hung information signs and set about communicating new trading arrangements designed to keep everyone safe and food going out of the door to appreciative customers.
For a small butchers shop social distancing is a challenge so we worked with Rob and his team to turn his now defunct Restaurant delivery service into a 'direct to the public' operation. A challenge of logistics and staff but by now we were having a regular conversation with Robs Facebook fans. Many hundreds of customers scattered around the area allowing us to gauge the take up and plan the deliveries. In short order we had gone some considerable way to replace R & D Walkers lost Pub and Restaurant sales and fulfil the requirements of discerning locals desperate for the best meat in the area without joining the queues.
The story continues so if you would like CotswoldXL to tell your story or you have a project that needs the oxygen of great Photo Journalism then give us a whirl or if you'd like to know more about the R & D Walker story then give Rob Walker a call. A straight talking Butcher who will tell it as it is.
